Entry 1: Humidity

I have been wondering for some time now why my hair gets so curly on humid days. I guess it is because hair will absorb the water vapor in the air and become heavy enough to curl down with the weight of it. The other day I noticed that when I was in my apartment my hair was straight. Later that day it was snowing outside and when I came back from class it was curly. I guess that means the air in my apartment is relatively dry compared to the outside air most of the time.

Entry 2: Air Pressure

I found a neat article about air pressure today: Air Pressure Article I didn't know that humid air is lighter than dry air. It makes sense though once you read the article.

Entry 3: Scuttle Clouds

Today when I was driving home from school for the weekend, I noticed that there were strange clouds in the sky. They were kind of broken up into long bands. My mom said they were "Scuttle clouds" and that we get them before a big storm front comes through. I also just found out that we are supposed to get up to 30 inches of snow in a couple of days. Yeah right... believe it when I see it.

Entry 4: The Big Snow

Well I guess I should have been more concerned about the weather when I saw how excited the weather guy was on tv. When they get excited, you can bet the weather is gonna get bad. Well I just came in from shoveling all this stuff and we have about 14 inches so far. They just said on tv that it is coming down at 3 inches an hour... at that rate we can be totally buried in no time - which means no classes on Monday :)

Ok I just measured and now we have 29 inches and the snow has finally stopped. I had to go digging in my closet for a while to find the METER stick... I am used to going for the 12" ruler when I measure snow. I can't believe it snowed this much... it looks like it will never melt :( I did notice that at times the snow was very heavy and had lots of medium sized flakes. And the snow is pretty dry light and powdery overall - good thing too because it makes it easier to shovel. Well I better go clean off my car which is buried so deep I can only see the side view mirrors sticking out. LOL.

Entry 5: Ice Crystals

I had a ton of frost to scrape off my windshield this morning. Actually my car door was frozen shut too. I could see the cool little patterns in the ice and it got me wondering how the water molecules come together to take that form... so I looked it up on google. I found one on unusual shaped crystals: here. And another one on how water usually forms into crystals here.
