Entry 6: Bizarre Clouds Yesterday evening, I saw some peculiar clouds. They were wide and very high in the sky. I think they might be scattering from high wind shear because it was not a very windy day. The clouds looked sparce and pointy on the ends - like a porcupine's back. Today I also saw a sun dog on my way to class. It was almost sunset and was very close to the horizon - it was very faint and seemed to shine off of a thin sheet of clounds. I never saw one before today. Entry 7: More stupid snow It is snowing ugly wet snow today and it is rather raw outside. Overall, this looks like it will be an indoor activity day. I was thinking it was odd though that it was snowing because it is 39 degrees. I guess the snow is melting on the way down, but doesn't have enough time to melt before hitting the ground. In any case it is spring and should not be snowing!!! Entry 8: Winds Today when I was driving to work, I noticed that my car was being blown around. When I got to work, there wasn't any wind at all. I thought this was kind of strange. How can it be windy 10 miles away and not here at work? When I got out of work later today it was still not windy, but when I got back to campus it was very windy again. Not sure why I am even caring - I just thought it was wierd. Entry 9: Change in Wind direction In class we are always talking about when the winds change from Southerly to North Westerly that a cold front has passed through. I just observed that today. When I went to work in the morning, the wind was blowing from the south and it was relatively warm. When I got back from work (it rained while I was at work) it was cold and the winds had shifted direction. I said ha! A cold front. Maybe it's silly, but I thought I should write down the first time that I knew something about the weather without looking at a chart or watching the news. Entry 10: Warm Front It rained all day today. Just like it rained all day yesterday and the day before that. I think I heard the weather guy say something about a stationary front - which we just learned at the ABC 27 news station means an occluded front. I guess the front can't make up its mind on whether or not to go anywhere just yet. I hope it makes up its mind - I am sick of RAIN!!! I did see a rainbow earlier when the sun peeked out though :) ||Meteo Journal Home||Page 1||Page 3||Page 4||Page 5|| |
