Meteorology Journal: Entries 21-26

Entry 21: Websites to differentiate cloud types

Today I found a website that helps people identify what type of clouds were observed: Clouds I guess this would be cool for people learning about Meteorlogy to find out about how differnet clouds form and where they form. Here is another site: Clouds from Space

Entry 22: Artic Ozone Hole and Polar Vortex

In class today we were talking about the Polar Vortex and the Ozone hole. I was wondering more about why there is a vortex over the poles - I thought maybe the jet stream could bring air into it or take some away. Here is what I found: NASA Article This is a really cool site, because it explains in video and pictures a lot about the different forces, winds and climates that interact to form the Ozone hole.

Entry 23: Man, these people are nuts!!

Today I found a neat weather article: Storm Chasers These crazy people actually chase storms (like in the movie twister)! I thought they made that up for the movie, but there are several websites dedicated to people chasing storms! Why?!?! Personally, I would rather go hide in the basement than take pictures of supercell thunderstorms!

Entry 24: Electromagetic Field and Weather on Earth

A friend found this webpage and sent it to me because we were arguing about how "real" the plot in the movie "The Core" really is. He thinks this article proves him right. I don't see a connection. But it is a cool article: Earth's Electromagnetic Field

Entry 25: Another Interesting Website about Earth's Magnetic Field and Related Stuff

Here it is: Gottsland Arrangement

Entry 26: Sunrises and Sunsets take longer

I am not sure if this is true or not, but I think that the sunrises and sunsets take longer in the spring and summer. It is really nice because you can sit and watch them longer. It makes me wonder what it would be like to live at the north pole and have the sun out for 24 hours a day. Wait, it is really cold there - nevermind :)
